BASIC DIAGNOSE
Our diagnostic service supports you in solving problems you encounter in your product or crop. Basic Diagnostics is standard. Upon receipt, your material is photographed and examined visually and microscopically based on our knowledge and expertise. This is often sufficient to immediately determine the cause of a disease or abnormality.
We look for fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes, insects/mites, and physiological abnormalities. You will then quickly receive our expert diagnosis. In some cases, follow-up testing is necessary, for example, to determine the identity of a pathogen with certainty (Comprehensive Diagnosis). We will carry this out in consultation with you.
Examples of issues where we can make a basic diagnosis based on our knowledge:
- Examination of crocus bulbs for damage caused by crocus nematodes (Aphelenchoides subtenuis).
- Testing tulips for infection with stem nematodes (Ditylenchus dipsaci).
- Determining the percentage of frost damage in a batch of lily bulbs.
- Determining the cause of nematode disease in daffodils (crocus nematodes or stem nematodes).
- Determining the cause of root rot in wilted tulips.
- Identifying a species of thrips that attacks Hippeastrum plants.
- Examination of lilies for infection with leaf nematodes (Aphelenchoides sp.).
- Determining the cause of bulb rot in daffodils (Fusarium sp. or Rhizopus sp.).
- Determining the concentration of Fusarium spores in inoculums for infection tests.
- Examining tulip bulbs for infection with tulip gall mites.
