QUALITY ASSURANCE AND RELIABILITY

The quality of lily bulbs is largely determined by the presence or absence of virus. Bulbs used for propagation must be virus-free to enable a healthy lot to be built up. In addition, buyers increasingly expect reliability in the quality of the delivered product.

Quality assurance

LilyGarant was developed to ensure the best possible quality of lily (scale) bulbs, especially the virus status.

Protocol and parties

LelieGarant's protocol is based on a combination of testing and cultivation strategy. Participants have integrated LelieGarant's testing strategy into their cultivation strategy.

Batches of lilies are tested for 9 viruses within LelieGarant and not, as with regular bulbs, for 3 or 4 viruses. Testing takes place at several moments during propagation and cultivation; from tissue culture initiation to delivery of (scale) bulbs.

The viruses tested within LilyGarant are ArMV, CMV, PlAMV, LMoV, LSV, LVX, TRV, TVX and SLRSV.

Reliability virus status

By linking the testing and cultivation strategy within LelieGarant, the reliability of the virus status of a batch is many times higher than with regular testing, up to 3 times higher.

A batch of lilies will be used as scaled bulbs within LelieGarant for a maximum of 1 cycle (1 year of outdoor cultivation). After this, the lot will also no longer be delivered under LelieGarant.

Certificate and label

If a company meets the protocol of LelieGarant, it receives a certificate of the LelieGarant system. This allows the company to deliver batches of (scale) bulbs that meet the requirements as established with the label/logo of the LelieGarant system.

Quality is the basis

With LelieGarant, the quality of a batch is guaranteed from the start at tissue culture to the cultivation of the scaly bulbs. A batch of bulbs with the LelieGarant label is the basis for growing lilies suitable for export to all destinations and growth without virus problems.
